[Review] COSRX Honey Ceramide Eye Cream

“Michelle, are you tired? Are you angry? Do you not feel good?” I had SO MANY people ask me those questions my whole entire 24 years of living. The answer is NO PEOPLE NO LOL. I mean yes, I’m tired… tired of life that is but other than that I’m fine. The reason why people ask me those questions is because of my dark circles… and my RBF. But that’s not the point. No matter how long I sleep, I can’t seem to get rid of my dark circles. So I did some research on why I have dark circles.

18-05-30-21-07-59-533_decoSee? I was already tired of life LOL but check out those dark circles

The most common cause of dark circles is fatigue. Check mark. Other reasons for dark circles are allergy, hereditary, sun exposure, rubbing of eyes, etc. Basically, all those reasons fit my reasons for dark circles. I have really bad allergy (thanks dad) and I didn’t put on suncream consistently until recently. So I was on a hunt for a good eye cream that targets my dark circles. And also I didn’t want to get wrinkly around the eyes so it’s better to start now then later lol. I picked the COSRX Honey Ceramide Eye Cream because first, it was COSRX and the price wasn’t bad at all.

COSRX Background: COSRX is a brand that was built from 13 years of experience from the Korean cosmetic world. They gathered customers’ feedbacks on what they need and their skin concerns to create ingredient-oriented brand. They minimize cost and don’t put much emphasis on advertising and packaging in order to produce products with the best ingredients. Their vision and goal is to create a high performing cosmetic brand with safe and natural ingredients. All of their products are affordable and targets all type of skin concerns such as dark spots, blackheads, blemishes, etc.

Formulated with Manuka Honey Extract and Ceramide, this eye cream protects the delicate skin around the eyes providing hydration.

Product Details: COSRX Honey Ceramide Eye Cream (1.05oz/30g) is an eye cream that helps hydrate the skin around the eyes. It contains honey and ceramide to help protect the moisture barrier under your eyes.  The eye cream has a creamy and milky texture that is lightweight and absorbs fast on the skin. It doesn’t have any fragrance so it’s perfect for those who are sensitive to scented products.

Ingredients: Honey extract, butylene glycol, glycerin, betaine, 1,2-hexanediol, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, beeswax, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, cetearyl alcohol, macadamia ternifolia seed oil, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, ethylhexylglycerin, allantoin, panthenol, dimethicone, ceramide 3, adenosine, sodium hyaluronate, xanthan gum, rh-oligopeptide-1

CosDNA ingredient analysis here.

Main Ingredients Analysis: Based on COSRX site, the key ingredients are

  • Honey Extract (80%)
    • Helps bind moisture to the skin
    • Has antibacterial components so helps fight and prevent acne
  • Ceramide 3 (500ppm)
    • Holds skin together
    • Protects the skin from hydration
  • Adenosine (2%)
    • Energizes the skin’s surface to make it look smoother and younger

Price: An eye cream that costs $20 isn’t bad at all. Most eye creams are really expensive ranging from $70 to above. And there’s a lot of product in the jar so I think the price is just right.

How to Use: After cleansing, toning and treatment steps such as essence, pat the eye cream around the orbital bone until fully absorbed. Use your ring finger to pat the cream since it has less pressure.

Performance: Unlike the 10 step skincare routine, where you apply eye cream after serums, I apply my eye cream right after I tone my face. Since the skin under your eyes is thinner and more prone to get wrinkle, I feel like applying eye cream before all the essences and serums would have more of an impact. I’ve been using this eye cream for over two weeks now. While it’s great at hydrating your under eye, it didn’t make an impact on my dark circles. Of course, that’s not the goal of this eye cream since they have more hydrating ingredients rather than brightening. But my under eyes are more plump than usual. As for wrinkles, they’re still the same. The eye cream didn’t really reduce my wrinkle. The great thing about this eye cream is that it doesn’t leave a greasy residue and it’s also lightweight so it absorbs really fast.

Conclusion: I think this is a great eye cream for those who needs more moisture for your under eyes. It’s mild on the skin and it didn’t irritate my skin. For the size of the product, the price of $20 is great. You’ll definitely use the cream for a looong time. But for those who have bad dark circles like me should find another eye cream. As for me, I am still on the hunt for a great but affordable eye cream that could brighten up my eyes so people can stop asking me if I’m miserable. The answer is yes but I would rather not have people ask me though LOL.
